P.W.S.A. and Softball Ontario, along with several other outdoor Provincial Sport Organizations, met with the Ministry today regarding our concerns with the Roadmap to Re-opening plan.
The meeting went very well, and P.W.S.A. is encouraged by the direction the government is taking with the Roadmap to Reopening.
For Step 1, the Ministry has confirmed that on a large, outdoor facility such as a ball diamond, more than one group of 10 players is permitted. The groups cannot cross over.
Please note the number 10 is exclusive of coaches.Note: Only 1 team per diamond is allowed.
The Ministry has confirmed that mask and contact tracing requirements will remain in step 1 of the reopening.
The Ministry also confirmed that each sport defines for its members what is ‘practice’ and what is ‘training’. For diamond sports, all practice activities, with the exception of scrimmages, constitutes training.
Scrimmages and games are not permitted in Step 1.We feel the discussions regards to the Step 2 and 3 regulations were very positive and look forward to sharing those outcomes with you in the coming week or so.
I will be arranging confidential conversations with each association president in the coming week.
